November 2023 update

November 2023 update

  • Modified program to make use of the BBC Micro's function keys. The keys don't cover all the commands, but certainly the most common ones, in my opinion! You can also print off your own f-key legend strip to insert behind the Beeb's Perspex.
  • Tweaked the Short Range Scanner to match EXACTLY the character dimensions of all the other 40 column ports. But with MODE 7's limitations it means I am unable to print a border colon immediately next to a game character as the colour code takes up a physical character space. So, any missing colon is not a bug; its an invisible colour control character for MODE 7.
  • Added "TREK-TV" in the disc image. This is specifically for those with CRT televisions that experience chopped off text on the very top row.
  • Made disc bootable. SHIFT+BREAK to boot to game menu.

May 2022 update

  • Corrected a minor issue on rare occasions when SRS is down and you change quadrant (immediately after a battle) and then the "Hit return to continue..." prompt appears twice.
  • BBC Micro BASIC doesn't like more than 10 nested loops or those with an "ejector seat". Other variants of BASIC (namely Commodore and others) are happy with this technique. So, I've replaced MANY many loops with incrementing variables to avoid errors coming from this issue.
  • Corrected a minor formatting issue with "Estimated Stardates to repair Enterprise...".

FINALLY, I've named the disc image file so that it doesn't appear as an un-named disc with disc managers, such as MMB Manager etc.
